We are all very aware of the devastation that has hit the southern portion of our country, and while it may seem very far away, it affects so many within our community. Through a cooperative staff member, we have been made aware of a community in North Carolina that has many of its members desperately struggling not only to clean up after this natural disaster but also to survive. Families reside in an elevated area where roads have washed out and are completely out of food, water, and supplies.
We at Lorain-Medina Rural Electric cannot leave this call for help unanswered and are hoping you will join us in this endeavor. Our members, Board, and staff have answered the call for aid. They are showing their support by bringing donations to our co-op location, which will be delivered by semi-truck to the community surrounding Marshal, North Carolina. We are in talks with a local cooperative in that area to ensure that all donations reach those most in need as quickly as possible.
Today, we are asking that you, as a community partner, consider joining us in this call for assistance and support this mission with a donation of supplies. A list of the most requested items is attached to this letter, but any materials that you can supply would be greatly appreciated.
If you have any questions about how to lend additional support, please contact us at contact@fesco-oh.org.
Thank you for your continued support, not only of our members but of our community.
*Donations will be accepted through Friday evening at the co-op office in Wellington. A drop-off area is set up in front of the building for any after-hours donations. Cash donations will also be accepted, which LMRE employees will use to purchase more donation items before everything is picked up Saturday morning.
