Lorain-Medina Rural Electric Cooperative sent two students this year as its ambassadors for the annual Youth Tour to Washington, D.C. 
Mapleton High sophomore Jules Frazier of Nova and Keystone High sophomore Diana Perez of Penfield Township represented LMRE on the seven-day, all-expense-paid trip in June.

Jules, 16, is the daughter of Tim and Kathleen Frazier of Troy Township. Diana, 16, is the daughter of Christina Abraham of Penfield Township. 

Jules and Diana were among 1,700 students representing electric cooperatives in 43 states. As part of their tour of the nation’s capital, students met with their congressional delegates, visited Arlington National Cemetery and attended a performance at the Kennedy Center for the Performance Arts, among many other activities.

The Youth Tour competition was based on the student’s scholastic record, a competitive exam consisting of general information about cooperatives and LMRE, and a recommendation letter submitted by a school or community official.
