Clare-Mar Lakes Campground in Huntington Township presents the Wellington BalloonFest on Saturday, Aug. 20, and once again Lorain-Medina Rural Electric Cooperative will serve as one of the event’s sponsors. 

For the first time, LMRE will have the  Touchstone Energy® Cooperatives balloon join the field. Pilot Bob Scobee will be on hand to talk to fans until launch time. The balloons are scheduled to launch at 6:30 p.m., weather permitting. 

During the 80th Annual Meeting in July, one lucky LMRE member won a ride in the Touchstone Energy balloon. The winner will launch during BalloonFest. 

The photogenic balloon glow is scheduled for sunset around 8:45 p.m. 

Gates open at 3 p.m. Admission is $5 for ages 12 and older, $3 for children 4-11, and free for children under 3. All proceeds benefit the Friends of the Senior Citizens, which serves Lorain County in LMRE’s service area.

Starting at 3 p.m. there will be live music, a cornhole tournament, bingo, a dunk tank, a bungee run, food vendors, and much more.
A blood drive will be conducted from 5 to 9 p.m. by Lifeshare Community Blood Services. 

Clare-Mar Lakes Campground is celebrating its 51st year in business in 2016. The campground has been operated by Ron and Brenda Sears for 46 years. 

Clare-Mar is located at 47571 New London Eastern Road, about one-half mile west of Route 58 in Huntington Township.
